A Brief History

Leechburg 102, Loyal Order of Moose was chartered in September 1909 and for 93 years was relatively unnoticed in the Leechburg community. In September 2003, the members decided it was time for a change and began taking the necessary steps to revitalize the image of the Leechburg Moose. Two primary goals were established: to increase our strength through membership growth and to establish a fraternal presence. With the combined efforts of our members and their family, we have increased our membership considerably and become more active in our community. We also began producing a bi-monthly publication and recently established a website to provide more information to our membership. In April 2005, a chapter of the Women of the Moose was established. This now gives the wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, female friends, etc. an opportunity to join the Moose Fraternity through the Leechburg Moose. Now with both men and women working together, we are able to provide even more to our members as well as the Leechburg community and its surrounding communities.

Leechburg Moose Community Easter Egg Hunt - April 8, 2006

The Leechburg Moose is proud to announce that it is again offering an Easter Egg Hunt for the children of the Leechburg Community.  The hunt is scheduled for 1:00PM on April 8, 2006 in the Riverfront Park (under the bridge behind Sprankle's Market).  To ensure that no child is left out, we are asking those planning to attend to contact 724-845-7162 and inform us the number children they will be bringing along with their ages.  Prior to the start of the hunt, each child will be allotted an equal number of eggs to collect.  Once they have finished collecting their eggs, they are invited back to the Leechburg Moose to have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, receive their treat bag, and prize (prizes based on age).  Lunch (hotdogs, chips, and little hug drinks) will be provided for the children plus other activities such as Spin Art.  All of this is offered at NO COST to the parent or chi! ld.  For more information on the Community Easter Egg Hunt, CLICK HERE to view the event poster.

Events and Activities

The Leechburg Moose strives to offer as many activities as possible for its members, their family, and qualified guests. Throughout each month a variety of activities are scheduled with considerable effort to address everyone’s interests. We do not just focus on adult activities either; we also try to offer children’s activities such as our Teen Pool Session (every Monday), Children’s Craft Sessions (held monthly) and Family Dances (whenever possible).

In addition to our activities, our Social Quarters features two (2) pool tables, three (3) soft tip dart boards, and two (2) Mega Touch video games. Members are invited to join leagues as well with the lodge sponsoring both pool and dart leagues for men and women. The pool leagues are conducted in the fall with dart leagues offered throughout the year.

We will soon be opening our new Children’s Activity Center which will feature a variety of activities for the children such as movies, video games, board games, toys, books, and more. The children’s center is away from the bar area and will has its own restroom just for the children. We also have our own Spin Art machines which the children (and some adults) really enjoy. The Leechburg Moose is not your normal club that focuses on its sales at the bar. Instead, we are committed to providing a service to not only our members but their family too.

Community Service

The Leechburg Moose is committed to providing a service to the community as well. We are proud supporters of the Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company, offer an annual Community Easter Egg Hunt, and participate in community events such as festivals and parades. We have also run fundraising drives for residents of the Leechburg community as well as surrounding communities and currently send care packages to those serving the military overseas. We will soon begin running fundraising programs to benefit the Arthritis Foundation and the American Cancer Society. We are also planning to conduct a Blood Drive and offer safety seminars (i.e. Child I.D., Fire Safety, Drug Awareness, CPR, etc.) in the near future. As a part of the Moose organization we are also committed to Mooseheart (Child City and School) and Moosehaven (City of Contentment). These are the primary endeavors of our organization and what makes our organization the greatest fraternity in the world.
