Children age 12 and under of the Leechburg community are invited to the Leechburg Moose's 3rd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt will begin at 1:00PM in the Riverfront Park on April 8, 2006 and finish up at the Leechburg Moose where children can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, receive their treat bag, and prize. Lunch will be provided for the children plus other activities available. In order to ensure that no child is left out, we ask you to contact 724-845-7162 and notify us how many children will be attending and their ages. On Saturday April 15th from 11 am till 4 pm The Leechburg Moose will be holding a Special Blood Drive. This Special Blood Drive will be held for the Grandson of Denny Zidek of Hyde Park. His Name is Nicholas Swinehart. He is only three years old and was born without Intestine's. He also has had several Kidney Operations and also received a Liver and Bowel Transplant Once Before. He is now getting ready for another Liver and Bowel Transplant. Blood is needed for the upcoming Operation and replacement of what has already been used. Young Nicholas is now in Childrens Hospital and is bleeding from the Liver. We need as much Blood as We can get for this drive. This is a very Heart Breaking True Story of a very young child in need. On Saturday Feb. 24th a Memorial Pool Tournament will be held in Memory of Sharon Magness. Profits will be donated to the American Cancer society in her name. The Tournament with be open to Men and Women over 21 years of age. The Format will be Luck of the Draw 8 Ball Doubles. A Great Buffet will be provided by the Women of the Moose Chapter 2288 and Friends. Cost of Tournament is $10.00 per person with Cash Prizes to be determined day of tournament. 50/50 Drawings will be held with profits being donated in her name. Sharon was a Beautiful Person and everyone that knew her loved her. She always had time to listen to others problems. She was an Avid Pool Player, Great Country Western Singer and a Very Special Person. We are hoping for a large crowd for this Memorial. As usual The Leechburg Moose is a Family Oriented Lodge and Proper Lanquage and Dress is expected.

On Sunday Feb. 25 at 1pm the Leechburg Moose Lodge will host a Luck of the Draw Dart Tournament. Entry Fee is $10 per Person. There will be a 120% Payback. For every Entry an additional $2 will be added to Pot. No 2 Local Pros or Higher average Throwers will be put together. They will draw pills first then the average and lower average dart throwers will draw pills. This will make the Tournament Fair to All. Format for Games will be 501 then Cricket. If Games are split you will diddle for who goes first or calls what the final 3rd game will be. This is a Double Elimination Tournament. Free Snadwiches and Coffee with Normal Price Cost of Drinks. If You like Darts this is the Tournament to be in. Members and Preferred Guests Only. Good Dart Etiquette is Expected and NO VULGAR LANGUAGE.

The Leechburg Moose Lodge 102 and The Women of the Moose Chapter 2288 will hold its Annual Leechburg Area Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 31st at 1pm. This will be the 4th year the Moose has sponcered this event. Children 12 and under are invited to attend this event. Children will hunt the eggs in the grass section along River Ave. They will be set up according to age with the youngest going first. After they get their eggs they will come to the Lodge for Hot Dogs and Huggies. They will also get a Treat Bag and Easter Present. We will also have Face Painting and the World Famous Moose Spin Art for the Children. It will be topped off with a Photo with the Easter Bunny. Photo's will be availiable before you go home. This is not just an Egg Hunt but a great afternoon for the Children. Last Year We had over 160 Children attend this Egg Hunt and Preparing for 200 this Year. There is No Charge for any of the activities. All Children get the same amount of eggs to hunt, Same Treat Bag and Gift suitible for age group. This Event has turned into one of the Largest of its kind. Last Year We stuffed 2500 Eggs. Please call to register Child or Children for the Egg Hunt by Wednesday March 28th. The cost of the dinner which will include spaghetti with meatballs, Italian bread, salad, dessert and beverage, will be $6 for adults, $4 for children 3-8 yrs old and free for children under 3. Proceeds will be used by the Scouts to fund future Scouting Events. Elks have always been known for their support of Scouting - Come out and support our local Scouts.

A program honoring our Flag will be presented by the Lodge with music by the Alle-Kiski Community Band. Following the Program, refreshments will be served. This program is FREE and open to the public. Please plan to attend and bring your family and friends. Show your support for our Flag, our Troops, and our Country Patriotism has characterized the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of the United States of America since the early days of the organization. Allegiance to the flag of our country is a requirement of every member.In 1907, the BPO Elks Grand Lodge designated by resolution June 14 as Flag Day. The Grand Lodge of the Order adopted mandatory observance of the occasion by every Lodge in 1911, and that requirement continues. The Elks prompted Woodrow Wilson to recognize the Order's observance of Flag Day for its patriotic expression. But it was not until 1949 when President Harry Truman, himself a member of the Elks, made the proclamation that thereafter June 14 would be a day of national observance for the symbol of our country. Every Elk finds deep significance in Flag Day, a day to acknowledge our great love of country, our commitment to the well-being of fellow citizens, and our respect for the values and ideals that our nation's banner symbolizes. The BPOE's patriotic observances on Flag Day will celebrate the continuing and vital importance of Old Glory and what it means to us all.

On Saturday July 14th the Leechburg Moose will be holding a Christmas in July Dance / Karaoke. It will start at 10pm. There will be No Charge for This Event. Those coming are asked to bring a Wrapped Gag Gift. A Secret Santa Drawing will be held at 11:30 after the 9 O'Clock Ceremony. Additional Raffles and Drawings will be held. !!!!! UPDATE !!!!! The Apollo Moon Landing Celebration will NOT be having fireworks this year due to the following. For the first time in the 38 year history, the Moon Landing Celebration coincides with another event of town pride. The Apollo Lions Little League is hosting a major tournament with district baseball champions across Western Pennsylvania. In the past, we have used the Little League Field to set off the fireworks. With the championship being played at the same site, we will not have the access to the field that week. For safety reasons, the fire department decided to forgo the fireworks for this year. We will still be having the Apollo Moon Landing Celebration in Owens Field, and will provide the same quality entertainment that we are famous for. Come out and support the Little League AND the Apollo Moon Landing Celebration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This celebration is dedicated to the memory of the heroic and tragic events of 9/11 2001. The weekend festivities is titled the Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company and Community Freedom Festival. In November, Elks Lodges honor our nation-s veterans for their sacrifices, that resulted in the freedoms we enjoy today. For Elks all over the U.S.A. November is Veterans Remembrance Month. This year Leechburg Lodge 377 is planning a very special Veterans Remembrance Luncheon on Sunday, November 4th in the Lodge Ballroom, to honor Staff Sgt. Stevon Booker of Allegheny Township, Army Spc Joshua Justice Henry of Apollo, Army Spc. William Sturges of Spring Church, and Marine Sgt Lonnie Wells of Vandergrift ' four young men from our area who made the supreme sacrifice for our country in Iraq. Following a buffet luncheon of roast beef, broasted potatoes, carrots, warm applesauce, salad, rolls and butter, dessert and beverage, a special program is planned to present the families of each of these brave men, the B.P.O.E Medal of Valor. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Allegheny Township War Memorial and Elks Veterans Programs. Tickets for this event will be $10 for adults and $8 for children 10 years of age and and younger. Doors will open at 12:00 Noon with Lunch to be served from 12:30 - 1:00 PM.
